Check an objective, question or rubric for bias, reading level and generic wording

Ask AI to review one objective, quiz question or rubric for possible bias, wording harder than your learners need, and objectives too generic to belong to this course. It runs only when you ask.

Review with AI gives one piece of your course a second read. It looks for three kinds of problem:

  • Possible bias: wording that assumes a culture, region, gender, age, religion, income or family situation; names or examples only some learners will recognize; idioms and slang that don’t translate.
  • Reading level: vocabulary or sentences harder than your audience and course level need.
  • Too generic (objectives only): the objective could belong to any course on the topic, because nothing in it ties it to this course’s material, setting or learners.

The review runs only when you choose Review with AI. It never runs on its own, it doesn’t add warnings to Review, and it changes nothing in your course unless you choose Use wording.

  1. Open Learning Design → Goals & objectives and select an objective.
  2. In its Record panel, choose Review with AI.
  3. Read the AI review card. Each finding names its kind, quotes the words it’s about, explains why they may be a problem for your learners, and may offer a better phrase after Try:.
  4. If the card shows Suggested wording, choose Use wording to replace the objective’s wording, or Discard to keep yours.

When you use the wording, the objective records that it came from AI, like any other AI suggestion you use. Its revision number goes up, as it does for any wording change. Press Ctrl/Cmd+Z to undo.

  • Quiz question: select the quiz block, then choose Review with AI under the question.
  • Rubric: in the Rubrics panel, open the rubric, then choose Review with AI below its criteria.

Questions and rubrics get findings and Try: phrases only, with no whole rewrite. Make the edits you agree with yourself, then choose Close.

The review reads the saved wording, so the studio saves your changes first. It judges reading level and genericness against the course’s title, description, audience (from the blueprint), course level and pages. Like every AI suggestion, the card shows Why this suggestion and Based on before you decide. See See why AI suggested something, and where it came from.

Each review is recorded in the course’s decision log by ID only: the kind of suggestion, the model, the instruction version and your decision. Course text is never stored.

  • The review is a second opinion, not a verdict. It can miss problems and can flag wording that’s fine for your learners.
  • The review isn’t available for retired objectives or empty objectives.
  • The review isn’t available for locked quiz blocks.
  • Agents can’t request a review through the API or MCP yet.
